Our four fin-tastic friends will be hitching rides in all manner of ad hoc water carriers including jars, mop buckets on wheels and the occasional pint glass. With its idyllic coastline and quaint villages Barnardshire might seem like a perfect slice of quintessential tranquility, but to our aquatic adventurers it’s alive with the very real threats presented by crossing roads, traversing rooftops, dodging deep fat fryers, avoiding wildlife including the cantankerous locals, not to mention fragile fishbowls and the very real problem that fish can’t breathe out of water. A simple, intuitive control scheme leaves no excuses should your fish perish leaving you feeling very gill-ty. Above, I've set vim to automatically strip whitespaces from source code files each time I save by using autocmd on the final line. It should be noted that if the function TrimWhitespace() above is defined within your ~/.vimrc, you can call it at any time from within a vim session by running :exec TrimWhitespace(), this is useful if you do a lot of batch editing in vim you can define functions to carry out otherwise tedious changes. Configuring vim requires taking a look at your local user's ~/.vimrc, and depending on the features you require, you may need to install and manage vim plugins.įor new users, the ~/.vimrc file can be easy to overlook, but taking some time to figure out the settings and plugins available can help make any beginner much more confortable in the text editor.īelow, I'll go over a few settings and plugins I've picked up along the way, and hopefully you can get some use out of them, too. YMMV and I should warn you again that it takes considerable practice to get to the point where it starts to feel good.Vim is a text editor that is difficult to get comfortable with, but once you have a set configuration that works for you it's very portable and really nice to use when editing files on remote hosts, especially when you take the time to configure it to suit your needs. For me it's rather that it is closer to what I'm actually thinking when I'm programming. Some people feel this is more efficient (i.e. You are working with larger blocks of abstraction, rather than just the character level. However, once you have your brain oriented (orientated? :-) ), there is this sense of freedom. With vim, it's much more about the context - when you are in situation X, you do this kind of thing. With emacs, I find that I memorise keybindings and practice using them. My last piece of advice is that vim-style editing is a little bit different that emacs-style editing (at least for me). There must be a better way", then there is almost guaranteed to be a better way. It's a bit like emacs in that if you ever think, "Oh, this is just painful. One very important thing is to keep looking for efficient ways to work with it. I recommend practicing with vim tutorials until it feels reasonably good before taking the plunge entirely. I think the biggest thing to accept is that you will not be proficient with your editor for quite a long time. If you are already familiar with emacs and have a setup that works for you, then switching to evil should be less painful than someone switching from vim. It is close enough to vim that I can barely tell the difference. About a year ago I switched back to emacs with evil mode. It took me a good year to get used to it, but now I'm hooked on that way of thinking. Around about 2007 I started doing all of my development on a tiny netbook and emacs was using too much memory. I'll get around to rewriting autocomplpop someday and working on a solution to mitigate external autocomplete providers slowing down Vim. This isn't an issue if you use Vim's built-in autocomplete (instead of python.vim). Since it's a plugin written before Vim/Neovim's async code, it tends to make Vim unresponsive, so I only enable vim-autocomplpop on projects I'm working on. For example, python.vim uses rope to analyze a file, but that can take a while to initialize and crawl directories if you're editing a file in your home directory. The only downside is that external autocompletion engines like ctags and rope can sometimes cause performance issues. It automatically shows autocompletion options as you type like an IDE. Vim-autocomplpop is a fairly old plugin, but it still works just fine. Vim's autocomplete is alright, but it can definitely be super-charged by plugins like vim-autocomplpop, superTab, and language specific plugins like vim-racer. We’ve included instructions to make this dip in your favorite gadget as well. When ready to serve, simply bake! Keep in mind that you may have to add a few minutes to your cook time if refrigerated. If you’d like to get a head start on this dish the day before, prepare this dish as directed, then wrap tightly and store in the fridge. We love serving this dip with tortilla chips or toasted baguette slices, but you could also pair it with cut veggies, your favorite crackers, or even homemade pretzels. Swap out the bacon with your favorite fatty pork like chorizo, diced crispy pork belly, or crispy pancetta! Or, leave it out completely for a vegetarian app. To tame the heat, remove the seeds from the jalapeños, or try pickled jalapeños, or these pickled peppers. For an easy upgrade, sprinkle with a crispy panko topping: Simply stir together 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs, 1 tablespoon olive oil, and a pinch of salt and sprinkle on top of the dip before baking. It gets a kick from the jalapeño, but paired with plenty of cheese, creamy components and crispy bacon, even the heat-averse will keep coming back for more. We decided to cut to the chase and transform the best parts of this classic Super Bowl appetizer into a super-cheesy, smoky party dip that's so much easier to serve to a crowd. Let’s be honest: Everyone’s favorite part of jalapeño poppers is the cheesy, creamy filling (plus the bacon, of course). I use windows for just about everything but when it comes to my business or craft I need the function, support and capabilities of Mac. I am usually able to provide more hep but if I am being honest I don’t spend much time playing with windows regarding dj or music apps. If you have a SB2 or SB the mapping should be very similar if not identical and to add to this any DDJ-S/DDJ-R (SX, SZ, SR etc) can work with very little modifying and renaming etc. I saw that the DJ DDJ-SB2 is in the list of the controllers from Pioneer for Djay Pro2 but what is with this controller. IF anyone here has had success with mapping on the windows side at all this should be no issue. To add to this where is djay pro at (function wise) with MIDI mapping overall with windows. The DDJ-SB2 builds on the layout of the original DDJ-SB with a dedicated filter and gain knob per channel, filter fade crossfader setting and pad transform FX. To save myself some reading had ANYONE here tried mapping the SB3 to windows (DP1 obviously) and if so had anyone had any success. Truth be told they have much more to lose from the Mac end then windows and this may contribute to the slower development times etc. How to DJ with the Pioneer DDJ-SB2 From complete beginner to playing awesome DJ sets on the Pioneer DDJ-SB2 using beatmixing, cues, loops, samples & more Free tutorial Rating: 4.7 out of 54. After polishing off our monstrous meal, we sat back in our chairs with content smiles to finish our glasses of wine. In the other pie, the Gruyere blissfully into the tasty dough. The margarita pizza was perfectly balanced, with naturally sweet tomato sauce contrasting the salty bread and cheese. The dough is crispy, but still chewy enough to balance the rich flavors layered above it. Immediately we knew this was an exceptional pizza experience. “No problem! We don't need plates,” we reassured him as we dug into the edible masterpieces before us without shame. The perplexed waiter was unable to provide plates to us because it simply wouldn't fit on our table being that we had each ordered our own pie. Soon after, our pies arrived with pizza cutter in hand (they leave that up to you). The bruschetta was prepared perfectly, with fresh, perfectly spiced tomatoes atop Italian bread toasted to a crisp outer layer with a soft chewy inside. We quickly decided on a bruschetta appetizer and two pies- a classic Margerita d' Buffala & a special pie with spinach and Gruyere cheese. The delicious scent of wood-fire pizza wafting through the air had us salivating by the time we sat down. The host popped open our bottle of wine and the 30 minutes flew by. While waiting at most BYOB restaurants can be a drag since their is no bar to relax at, Nomad has a beautiful outdoor patio with tables reserved for those waiting. Since it is a BYOB, we brought a bottle of Barbera d'Asti, a light-bodied red wine that pairs perfectly with pizza. We arrived during prime-time, on a Friday night around 8pm. After over five hours of pre-heating, the oven is ready to cook pizzas atop hard wood (usually apple of cherry) in 2 minutes or less at 750 to 1000 degrees. Well, lucky for me (though not for my waistline), I won't have to travel very far to get an exceptional pie anymore.
